Leadership Academy Nepal (LAN) is collaborating with Rice University of the US to organise an executive leadership development programme. The six-day residential programme is first of its kind in Nepal, exclusively designed for CEOs and top management.

Arun Joshi, founder of LAN, said the objective of the programme is to familiarise the business leaders of Nepal with some of the core principles of strategic management and the foundation of leadership.

The programme has two modules—one will be on business strategy and the other will be on leadership, with two of the top faculties from Rice University coming to Nepal to give the training.

“We’re trying to create a training platform for executives and managers that is really world class at affordable cost in Nepal. We have collaborated with Rice University to give the training,” said Joshi.

The whole idea of having faculties from a world class university giving trainings to Nepali corporates on

leadership and strategic management was the brain child of Joshi and Prithvi Bahadur Pande, chairman of Nepal Investment Bank Limited. “This kind of programme at the Rice University cost over $22,000 but we’re offering it at much lower cost,” said Joshi.

Two professors from Rice University—Brent Smith and Balaji Koka will be in Nepal for the programme which will be held from October 28 to November 2.

In the first two days, participants will be given training on how they can strategise their position in the globalsing world. Following that, participants will be taught leadership skills, how to lead large organisations and how to motivate staff.

LAN is planning to make this an annual event with online courses for second layer managerial staff of big companies in Nepal.

“The idea is that CEOs will hopefully like this leadership programme and will send their staff for similar

intensive training that will be carried out online,” said Joshi.
