A tiger was found dead at Karnali embankment area of Bardiya National Park (BNP) in Bardiya district on Wednesday.
BNP Assistant Conservation Officer Badri Binod Dahal said that the old tiger was found dead in a dense forest, 90 metres away from Chisapani Check Post along the East-West Highway.
He said the big cat died several days ago as its body was recovered in a decayed state.
A Nepal Army patrol team deployed for the protection of the national park found the tiger yesterday.
All the body parts of the tiger are safe, Dahal said. The tiger was around 18-year-old, the BNP said.
A report recently made public stated that there are 87 tigers in the BNP.
The main habitat of the tiger is embankment area of Karnali and Babai Rivers of the BNP.
The BNP said five tigers had died due to natural cause and bus-hit in the last four years.
