The three-year campaign—a collaboration of World Health Organisation and International Council of Nurses—focuses on providing quality training to nurses.
A press statement by the Nursing Association of Nepal said the campaign is set to empower nurses in the field of innovation, advocacy and leadership.
The campaign is based on the findings of the Triple Impact Report by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Global Health, which stressed the importance of quality and trained nurses to improve the health of people, build strong economy and sensitise gender issues in the community.
“Nurses play a major role in promoting health, preventing diseases and delivering primary and community care. The training will be conducted across the country,” Association President Tara Pokhrel told the Post.
In 2017, Nepal was given the Risk Award Trophy by United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction for its EpiNurse project in monitoring, preventing and controlling infectious diseases in the aftermath of disasters.
