A meeting of the National Reconstruction Authority on Sunday endorsed the preliminary plan for the development of four integrated settlements.A meeting of the National Reconstruction Authority on Sunday endorsed the preliminary plan for the development of four integrated settlements.
The meeting, chaired by NRA Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyewali, agreed to develop integrated settlements at Phuyal Village in Okhaldhunga district, Shanga Chwokgadhi and Melamchi Municipality in Sindhupalchok district and Sankarapur Municipality in Kathmandu district.
According to a statement released by the authority, there would be 12 houses in the proposed integrated settlement at Phuyal Village, 56 in Sangha Chowkgadhi, 135 in Melamchi and 16 in Sankarapur.
The decision has paved the way for the Central Level Project Implementation Units and District Level Project Implementation Units of the authority to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the plan.
A Cabinet meeting in 2015 had agreed to build integrated settlements in the districts that were severely affected by the Gorkha Earthquake.
The NRA has so far identified 125 settlements in the quake-affected districts.
The reconstruction body has a plan of developing around 50 integrated settlements to house the earthquake survivors.
Each settlement would have facilities like roads, drinking water, electricity, public toilets, health posts, community buildings and schools, according to the NRA.
