Two Nepali migrant workers, who were returning home for Dashain festival, have been robbed of INR55,000 along with their belongings at Chandigarh Bus Park in India.
Krishna Budhamagar and Dan Bahadur Rokamagar of Kalika in Naumule Rural Municipality-4 of Dailekh district said a group of four unidentified men attacked them on Friday and stole the money, a mobile set and all their belongings.
“We were waiting for the bus to Banabasa from Chandigarh Bus Park when the four men attacked us,” said Krishna, adding that the robbers rendered them unconscious using an intoxicant chemical. “When we regained consciousness, we had nothing left,” said Dan Bahadur. “Chandigarh police purchased us the tickets to Haridwar. In Haridwar, some Nepalis helped us reach Banabasa and we arrived at Mahendranagar on Monday.”
The duo complained that they have no money to reach home. In Mahendranagar, they have asked the police personnel and locals for help.
“Around 4,000 to 5,000 migrant workers are returning home for the upcoming festivals on a daily basis,” said Padam Bahadur Budhamagar, Sub Inspector of the Area Police Office in Gaddachowki. “Robberies are being reported on a daily basis.”
