Public Service Commission (PSC) on Thursday submitted its 59th annual report to President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
PSC Chairperson Umesh Prasad Mainali presented President Bhandari the report (fiscal year 2016/017) at an event held at Sheetal Niwas.
The PSC submitted the report as per the Article 294 of the Constitution of Nepal. Submitting the report, PSC Chair Mainali said 1,204 vacancies were announced for 5,970 posts as well as 1,807 under inclusive competition in previous fiscal year. A total of 567,853 applications were registered for the same.
Job applications have increased by six times in the last decade. The position of Kharidar received the highest number of applications (146,476). A total of 7,718 candidates, including 32 per cent women, have been recommended for permanent appointments.
According to the PSC’s report, 3,244 have been recommended for inclusive competition. Mainali said 41,068 candidates were recommended for permanent appointment in last eight years.
PSC Spokesperson Kiran Raj Sharma said the PSC has implemented the three-year strategic plan. Out of the 369,857 applicants seeking placement in security bodies and organised state institutions, 159,426 appeared for written examinations.
