NC leader Banstola cremated, tributes pour in
Political leaders, well-wishers, and family members offered tributes to late Nepali Congress (NC) leader Chakra Prasad Banstola on Sunday.The last rites of Nepali Congress (NC) leader Chakra Prasad Banstola were performed at Pashupati Aryaghat, Kathmandu on Sunday. His nephew Nabin Banstola lit the funeral pyre.
Leader Banstola, who was bed-ridden for six years following a brain hemorrhage, passed away on Saturday evening.
Earlier in the day, political leaders, well-wishers, and family members offered tributes to late Banstola at party office. His body had been kept at party office in Sanepa, Lalitpur from 13:30 to 16:30 for final tributes.
NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba along with other senior leaders including Ram Chandra Poudel offered tribute to Banstola by draping the party flag over his body.
Other NC central leaders including vice-president Bimalendra Nidhi, general secretary Shashank Koirala, Krishna Sitaula, Prakash Man Singh, Ram Sharan Mahat and Prakash Sharan Mahat also offered homage to the late leader Bastola.
Likewise, CPN leader and former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal and general secretary Bishnu Poudel, among others had also offered tribute to Bastola.
He is survived by his spouse and two daughters.
Banstola had also served as a former foreign minister, Nepal's ambassador to India.

He had been taken to the Bansbari Neuro Hospital Saturday after his condition deteriorated. After the hospital declared him clinically dead, the family took him to Khumaltar-based home on Saturday itself.

Meanwhile, the NC decided put off today's programme of submitting a memorandum to the central and provincial governments through the District Administration Offices regarding the issues of price hike and taxation.
