PM Oli blames ‘emptied state coffers’ for lack of instant impact

He acknowledged that the incumbent government could not give instant results as the country’s economy was intatters when he took the reins of the government.The Prime Minister, however, claimed that his has already taken the country on the path to improve tattered economy.
PM Oli, who is also the Co-Chairman of Nepal Communist Party, said so while exchanging greetings on the occasion of Dashain, Tihar and Chaath at a programme organised in Birtamod, Jhapa on Thursday.
Addressing the programme, PM Oli said he is committed to make the country prosperous and the people happy notwithstanding the opposition parties’ accusation that the government has not been able to perform well.
“Rest assured, I won’t let you down. I will not break the trust and you have put on me,” PM Oli said, adding, “I am working to make the slogan of prosperous Nepal and happy Nepali successful.”
He said the government won’t be toppled easily though some people are conspiring to make the government unsuccessful. He added that the incumbent government has maintained balanced relationship with India and China.
“The government has put an end to the situation whereby Nepal could not see eye-to-eye with India,” he said. “We have made the environment conducive to bring assistance from China in various sectors,” PM Oli added.
He said the Nepal’s ship will travel to the ocean via Koshi and Gandaki soon despite protest from different quarters.
Oliclarified that the incumbent government could not increase allowances for senior citizens as the erstwhile government had emptied the state coffers.
He expressed his commitment that the social security allowances will be increased next yearbecause the economic condition of the country is getting better.
“We have started providing allowances to senior citizens. The allowance which started from Rs 100 has been increased to Rs 2, 000,” PM Oli said, adding, “We have said that the allowance will be increased this time also. We cannot increase the allowance this year as the previous government had emptied the state coffers. Rest assured the allowances will be increased next year.”
