Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Shashank Koirala has said that the party general convention should be held in time.

Speaking at a press meet in Biratnagar on Monday, leader Koirala said party President Sher Bahadur Deuba shouldn't extend his tenure by one year. “There is no alternative to going for party general convention by dissolving the internal factions,” he said, “The party had to suffer defeat in the elections due to internal factions.”

'Govt becoming unsuccessful'

Another NC leader and deputy leader of NC Parliamentary Party, Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar has said the government is becoming unsuccessful. “The current government has become unsuccessful looking at its performance of the past eight months.

“The current government with a two-thirds majority has not been able to deliver what a simple majority government could have delivered,” said leader Gachhadar. He claimed that each and every sector of the country has become chaotic. “Law and order situation has become a joke, while corruption and impunity have thrived in the country,” he added.

Leader Gachhadar said the NC won’t remain a mute-spectator if the government does anything that would put the federal democratic constitution at peril. “This is the time the government should work honestly with dedication for the country and the people, and the Nepali Congress is ready to play a constructive role for the same. Therefore, the government shouldn’t do anything that against the people’s aspirations,” he said.
