Nidhi blames Poudel, Sitaula for making NC a hostage of indecision

Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi said the party has become a hostage of indecision because of senior leaders Ram Chandra Poudel and Krishna Prasad Sitaula.

Talking to journalists in Biratnagar on Monday, Nidhi said the party couldn’t hold its meeting as senior leaders Sitaula and Poudel didn’t give time for the meeting. “Party has not been able to make any decision because no meeting has taken place,” he said. “It wouldn’t be appropriate to make the party a hostage of indecision at a time when the party has been making preparations for Mahasamiti meeting.”

He complained that the agreement reached with Ganatantrik Forum has not been implemented because of the failure to hold the party meeting.  He further said that it would be problematic if the meeting makes any decision without their participation.

Leader Nidhi further said that party’s disciplinary committee would be formed after the Mahasamiti meeting. He made it clear that the party’s general convention would be held according to party statute.

“The general convention would be held neither early nor late but within the time stipulated in the party statute,” he said. “If the party statute has a provision for extending the tenure by one-year, it can happen.”

Leader Nidhi opined that the statute amendment draft of the party should incorporate the provision to make both the party president and working committee strong.

He claimed that the Nepali Congress has played the role of a strong opposition in the government. “We are waiting patiently because the Nepali Congress has been accused of being eager when the party protested over the issues of Nirmala Panta’s murder and Health Education Bill,” said leader Nidi. He said the party has been playing the role of an opposition in a responsible manner as new issues are emerging every day in the country’s politics.

Nidhi alleged that the entire country has been affected by tax terrorism because of the government’s failure to own up the responsibility for tax.
