Three persons have been arrested on the charge of force-feeding human faeces to an elderly woman of Maubasi, Udayapurgadhi Rural Municipality, Udayapur on Thursday.

A police team deployed from the District Police Office, Udyapur detained BakteRai, 50, his wife Garbhi, 47, and son DevBahadur, 32, for assaulting ReshmaRai and forcing her to eat faecesafter she complained that their stray cattle ate the crops in her field, Inspector Lalan Prasad Rautkurmi said.

Reshma also suffered injuries in her right eye and other parts of her body after the assault. She is undergoing treatment at the District Hospital, Udayapur, Inspector Kurmi said.

The trio had force-fed faeces to Reshma on Tuesday.

Police said they will start investigation once the suspects are brought to the District Police Office.
