Govt okays President Bhandari’s Qatar visit

President Bhandari is leaving for Qatar for a four-day visit (on Oct 29-Nov 1) at the invitation of Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar.The Cabinet should endorse the visit of the President.
The Cabinet meeting handed over responsibility to Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security GokarnaBista to ink labour agreement with Malaysia.
Malaysian Human Resources Minister M Kulasegaran has already arrived in Kathmandu to sign an agreement related to hiring Nepal workers with Nepal.
The meeting has also decided to relieve Basanta Prakash Upadhyay from the post of Director General of Gorkhapatra, Minister Baskota said.The government had removed him from the post in the past as well. The Supreme Court, however, reinstated him to the post.
Prime Minister KP Sharma could not attend today’s Cabinet meeting due to his poor health.
President Bhandariis scheduled to meet the Amir at the AmiriDiwan of the State of Qatar in Doha on Tuesday. Following the official talks, the Amir of the State of Qatar will host a banquet in honour of the President.
SheikhaMozabint Nasser, co-founder and the chairperson of Qatar Foundation, and other distinguished personalities of Qatar will also pay courtesy call on President Bhandari.
President Bhandari will also address a joint interactive meeting of the business community on the theme of Business and Investment Opportunities in Nepal. She is also expected to meet with the Nepali community living in Qatar.
The President will be accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi and other high-level officials from the Office of President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A business delegation will also join the President’s entourage.
