The book is published in the association of Social Science Baha Centre for the Study of Labour Mobility and Himal Kitab.
The book explores the history of migration in Nepal from 1936 to 2016, spanning 80 years, taking reference from stories written by 20 noted authors—including Lain Singh Bangdel, Leela Bahadur Chhettri, Jagdish Ghimire, Indra Bahadur Rai, Dor Bahadur Bista, Narayan Wagle and Buddhisagar—and the journey their characters take across Tibet, India and Bhutan. Through which the author attempts to uncover the socio-political dynamics of migration to, from and withing Nepal. Dukhadekhi Dukhasamma is Sapkota’s third published book, after Jeevan Katipaya and Kahar.
“Beside exploring the nature of migration in Nepal, the book is an attempt to show how migration is at the centre of a majority of social realistic novels in the canon of Nepali literature,” author Sapkota said.
