The Ayurveda Doctors’ Association of Nepal has urged the government to develop country’s Nardevi Ayurveda Campus as the Central Specialist Campus of Ayurveda. The Nardevi-based Ayurveda institute established in 1917 AD with four beds has now 118 beds with multiple services in the field of Ayurveda treatment.
In a press note on Thursday, Association’s President Dr Prakash Gyawali said Ayurveda should be expanded to all local levels across the country along with the specialist services.
The doctors’ forum recommendation notwithstanding, experts say the number of patients seeking treatment at Nardevi Hospital is not encouraging. They say there is little public awareness on Ayurveda.
Ayurveda Hospital at Nardevi will celebrate its centenary by organising several programmes for one week.
Hospital Chief Dr Baikunthanarayan Subedi said priority has been given to develop the hospital as a centre for excellence. The Ministry of Health is supposed to allocate sufficient budget for this to materialise, he added.
