An earthquake measuring 5.1 on Richter Scale was felt in Darchula and surrounding hilly districts on Sunday afternoon.
The earthquake with its epicenter at Khela in the Indian state of Uttarakhand was felt in the hilly district at around 12:52 pm, informed Seismological Center, Surkhet. Khela is some 16 kilometers away from Darchula headquarters Khalanga.
Scared locals ran out of their houses to open ground as the quake struck. Police said there have been no reports of any loss of lives or properties due to the quake.
