PMO directs pregnant girl be brought to Kathmandu for safe delivery
A 12-year-old girl from Makwanpur district about to give birth is being brought to Kathmandu on Tuesday following direction from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) to ensure safe delivery of her baby.A 12-year-old girl from Makwanpur district about to give birth is being brought to Kathmandu on Tuesday following direction from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) to ensure safe delivery of her baby.
PMO had expressed concerns about the risks involved in the delivery and directed the concerned local authorities to ensure the girl receive good care while giving birth to her baby.
Makwanpur Chief District Officer (CDO) Asmaan Tamang informed the girl was brought to Hetauda Hospital on Monday by chairperson and vice chairperson of the rural municipality following direction from the PMO. Following check-up at the hospital, the girl will now be taken to Kathmandu, said CDO Tamang.
The girl fell in love with a local Chepang boy and married him last year while studying in Grade 4. PMO had expressed concern about health after news of her pregnancy circulated in the media.
