Twenty-two central committee members of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have submitted a memorandum to party chairperson demanding the central committee meeting be called at the earliest.

Submitting the five-page long memorandum through General Secretary Bishnu Poudel on Wednesday, the central members have expressed their dissatisfaction towards the working style inside the party and drew the top brass attention towards protecting the interests of the party, public and the country.

The central members have said it was time to review the activities of the party and the government. They warned party will have to bear a big price in the future if the mistakes and weakness were concealed and not corrected.

Saying favoritism in the party was rife while assigning responsibilities in the party, they also demanded giving full shape to politburo and summoning meetings at regular intervals. They said procedure and practice was not followed while making political appointments or picking ministers and demanded a trend be set up so as to implement any decisions only after endorsing it through the party’s central committee.

The central members demanded the rising gap between the party leaders and cadres be bridged and internal unity be maintained at times when reactionary forces are trying to impede the achievements gained from the second people’s movement. They also drew the top brass attention towards concluding the unification process between the two communist forces without any further delay.

Pointing towards a weak first-year progress report despite the party enjoying a stronghold in all three levels, the leaders have also warned about adoption of lavish and extravagant lifestyle by the party leaders. Criticisms were growing about leaders being more inclined towards living a luxurious lifestyle despite the country witnessing a slump in its financial condition. Failure to address such issues immediately would prove to be a bane for the party in the coming days, the leaders warn.
