Nepal eased to a 3-0 victory over Bangladesh while India overcome Bangladesh with an identical scoreline. In the men’s singles Nabin Shrestha of Nepal beat Gaurab Singh of Bangladesh 21-13, 18-21, 21-8 while the women’s singles event saw Rashila Maharjan of the home team defeat Farbin Binte Emdad in straight sets 21-8, 21-5.
In the men’s doubles, Nabin Shrestha and Prince Dahal saw off Bangladeshi pair of Gaurab Singh and Mangal Singh 21-15, 21-16. Earlier, Nepal had overcome Maldives 4-1 to emerge Group ‘B’ winners and book a semi-final date against Bangladesh. Nepal is the runner-up of the mixed team event.
The other semi-final saw India’s Priyanshu Rajawat beat Sri Lanka’s Ranthuska Sasindhu 23-25, 21-12, 21-17 in men’s singles while Malvika Bansod dispatched Dilmi Dias 21-12, 21-14 in women’s singles. In the men’s doubles, Indian pair of Vishnuvardan Gaud and Dhrub Rawat overcame Sri Lankan pair of Chamath Dias and Chirath Illuperumachi 19-21, 21-9, 21-10. The final will be played on Thursday.
