Corporate Super Sixes: Century beats NIC Asia in final to lift title

Century Bank defeated NIC Asia Bank by three wickets to claim the title of the Corporate Super Sixes cricket tournament at the Tribhuvan University grounds on Saturday. 

In the final match, NIC Asia rode on a 12-ball 31 not out from Sandeep Karki to make 76 without loss in five overs. Player-of-the-final Vishnu Tiwari sailed the Century Bank ship scoring an important seven-ball 19 not out with three fours and a six taking his team to 79-3 in the last ball of the innings. 

Subash Sharma also chipped in an eight-ball 21 for Century hitting two sixes. Earlier, Sanjog Sharma had made eight-ball 24 in NIC Asia innings. The title triumph means Century will now get a free entry for next year’s tournament.  

In the semi-finals, also played on Saturday, NIC Asia had edged Subisu by nine runs Century had eased to a five-wicket victory over Embassy of India.  Sanjog’s 12-ball 22 lifted Century to 55-3 before it restricted Subisu to 46-2. Rojans Pradhan was the lone aggressor for Subisu making an 18-ball 30 not out hitting five boundaries. 

In the first semi-final, Subash Singh’s 19-ball 24 not out guided Embassy of India to 41-2. Century raced to target in just 3.2 overs 

losing just one wicket after Bijay Gautam chipped in a 12-ball 20 not out. NIC Asia had also played its quarter-final match on Saturday beating SBI Bank by five wickets, while Embassy of India had cruised past Sipradi Trading by four wickets.

Suraj Timalsina of Century was named the player-of-the-series for his 112 runs and two wickets. He also took the most sixes award, while Kedar Singh of Sunrise was named the best fielder. Subishu’s Rojans (batsman), NIC Asia’s Sumit Shrestha (bowler) and Century’s Subash Sharma (wicket-keeper) were other individual winners.
