Media persons barred from House committee meeting

- SAMUEL CHHETRI, Kathmandu

Dec 14, 2018-

The State Affairs Committee of the Federal Parliament on Friday barred journalists from covering its meeting citing it as confidential.

The move to bar access to the journalists came hot on the heels of the media reports that the Defence Minister Ishwor Pokharel, and Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, among other members of the committee, breached its jurisdiction on the issue of constructing Kathmandu-Nijgadh expressway.

According to sources, the meeting that began at 11 am has been holding discussions on the issue of expressway.

The matters of expressway fall under the Development Committee of the Parliament. Committee members are heading to Nijgad on December 17 for the on-site monitoring of the progress made so far.
