Science Academy suffers shortage of staff
Dec 17, 2018-
Human resource crunch at the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) has affected research and study programmes.
The only government entity conducting research and study on multifarious issues relating to science and technology faced the dearth of human resource after appointments to various posts were obstructed for long.
Engineer Daktar Prasad Dhakal, chief of the technology department at NAST, said that the programmes launched before and after the earthquake were in severe need of manpower.
NAST plans to set up its branches in every province in line with the federal set-up. However, it has not been implemented owing to the shortage of skilled employees.
The government entity has no authority to open the recruitment process on its own, while it takes time to get employees from the Public Service Commission.
The technology department of NAST currently has nearly 25 employees, all of them temporary. Dhakal said at least 20 employees are required urgently.
