77 pickpockets arrested from Kathmandu

The Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, has arrested a large number of pickpockets from various parts of Kathmandu.
Police on Wednesday made public 77 persons arrested for their alleged involvement in pickpocketing and stealing belongings of passengers from public vehicles in the Capital. They were caught red-handed while stealing cash, mobile phones and ornaments from the passengers.
Police have confiscated 39 mobile phones, four iPad and four laptops from their possession. The pickpockets enter a bus by making six groups—two each in one group—to pickpocket.
Preliminary investigation found that the pickpockets were using symbolic language.
Police said that they have been using ‘Da’ for money, ‘Kan’ for mobile, ‘Kacha’ for vehicle, ‘Chapa’ for man, ‘Bhadri’ for woman, ‘Mam’ for driver and ‘Male’ for conductor.
Similarly, they have been using ‘Rame’ for victim, ‘Kashi’ for pickpocket, ‘Tanko Da’ for more money, ‘Jutko Da’ for less money, ‘Thuldai’ for police, ‘Tapki’ for flee, ‘Akal Ja’ for move in front inside the vehicle, and ‘Chichal Ja’ for move backward inside the vehicle among other words, read a statement issued by the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, today.
