Temperature has plummeted in various central Tarai districts over the past few days, affecting normal life.
Human activities have decreased in the market places while the number of students in schools has been on a decline due to the cold weather and thick fog. The locals make bonfires on the roadside to keep themselves warm. Patients of various cold-related diseases in the health facilities are on the rise lately.
The temperature in the area has dropped since Monday. The region is covered in a thick blanket of fog. The Provincial Traffic Police Office in Pathalaiya has urged all vehicles to use their headlights to avert road accidents caused by poor visibility.
“Cold wave is sweeping across the region. Children, senior citizens and people from impoverished communities have been greatly affected due to severe cold,” said Yogendra Baitha of Kalaiya-16 in Bara district.
