Graft case filed against Chief Agriculture Officer among 13

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Tuesday filed a corruption case at the Special Court against 13 individuals, including 11 staffers of District Agriculture Development Office, Dailekh.
The anti-graft body filed the case against 11 persons including then office chief senior agriculture development officer Narahari Ghimire and four section officers for their alleged involvement in carrying out irregularities while distributing seed kits.
The CIAA in the charge-sheet claimed that they had pocketed the amount by producing fake bills of purchasing seed kits.
The case has been filed against Horticulture Development Officer Surya Nath Yogi, Agriculture Development Officer Narendra Bahadur Thapa, Account Officer Dhal Bahadur Hamal, Technical Assistant Gamal Singh Thapa, Horticulture Development Officer Bhuwan Bahadur Malla and Non-Gazetted Officer Nawaraj Thapa.
Similarly, the other officials accused in the case are Accountant Ram Kumar Sah, Technical Assistants Mim Bahadur Shahi, Rag Bahadur Bapal and Purna Bahadur Thapa and Sub-Engineer at the District Coordination Committee Ram Prasad Sharma and fresh vegetable production group Prem Bahadur Sahi.
The CIAA has sought a fine of Rs 1.50 million from then office chief Ghimire, Rs 1.8 million from Yogi and Rs 1.2 million from Hamal.
Twelve staffers including Chief Agriculture Officer have been suspended after the case was filed against them.
