National cricket captain Paras Khadka and star batsman Dipendra Sing Airee left for Australia on Monday in a bid to promote Nepali cricket Down Under.
In the nearly three-week Australia tour, the duo along with former U-19 national player Subash Pradhan will be involved in cricketing activities at four Australian cities and holding interaction with Nepali community, cricket supporters and cricketers residing there. Expert Education and Visa Services has coordinated for their travel under management of Nepalaya International.
Expert, which has also registered Expert Cricket Club in Australia, is taking the start cricketers to Australia under Expert Cricket Festival with slogan ‘lets unite to promote Nepali cricket’. “We are hopeful that the players touring Australia will not only be able to leave their mark but also get opportunity to learn something better,” said Expert Managing Director Khem Sangraula. “It is just the beginning and our future plan is to take the whole national cricket team for Australia tour,” he added.
The Nepali cricketers are scheduled to hold interaction and cricketing activities in Melbourne on December 30, Sydney in January 5 and 6, Brisbane on January 10 and Adelaide on January 12. Pradhan, who is also the managing director of Nepalaya, said that the objective of the tour was to expose Nepali cricket at the global level. “During their stay in Australia, we will also try to meet with the officials of the Cricket Australia and initiate to play a role as the bridge between (CA) and Nepali cricket,” said Pradhan.
Pradhan said the Nepali cricketers will also play a triangular series with local Nepali community. “Three of us will lead three different teams and play the triangular series on January 12,” said Pradhan. According to Khadka, who is also the brand ambassador of Expert, the tour would be a good exposure and will be helpful in promoting Nepali cricket in Australia. “We are focusing on building relations with Cricket Australia,” he said.
