President Bidya Devi Bhandari has called on everyone to work together responsibly to protect “our common home, the earth”.
Inaugurating the two-day National Climate Change Conference in Guphadanda here on Monday, Bhandari stressed the need for launching a green campaign across the world.
She also suggested including the issues of climate change in school curriculum to raise awareness.
“We have been facing problems due to other countries. Discussions should be held on the matter,” Bhandari said, adding that she had clearly put up Nepal’s views on the climate change issues in the international arena referring to her participation at the recent UN conference on climate change in Poland.
Minister for Forest and Environment Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Lalbabu Pandit, lawmakers Agni Prasad Sapkota and Sher Bahadur Tamang also addressed the function.
District Coordination Committee (DCC) chiefs from 75 districts are attending the conference organised with an aim to raise awareness on climate adaptation planning. The DCC chiefs of Morang and Nawalparasi remained absent.
