Government doctors not to take part in adjustment process
Jan 4, 2019-
The Government Doctors’ Association of Nepal (GODAN) have decided not to participate in the Civil Servants Adjustment Ordinance 2075 until their demands are addressed. After holding a meeting with the members of the association on Thursday, GODAN decided against filling up the adjustment form. “We oppose the ordinance. No government doctors of our association across the country will fill the adjustment form until our demands are addressed,” GODAN President Dr Dipendra Pandey told the Post. GODAN, along with ten other medical associations, have been opposing the ordinance.
The agitating fraternity is also demanding promotion of civil servants in the health sector if they participate in the adjustment process. The government should first take the consent of employees regarding the transfer in places if they lack required infrastructure, among other facilities, they said.
“We will picket the Health Ministry in the Capital and Social Development Ministry in all the provinces as part of our protest programme on Sunday. As the government has done nothing to address our demands, we are forced to take such steps,” Dr Pandey said, warning, “If our demands are not met soon, we will stop all our services and take to the streets.”
GODAN has already submitted a memorandum to the Health Ministry and Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, but their demands have not been addressed.
