Province 3 Police Unit has arrested three persons in possession of four kg gold from Gajuri in Dhading district on Thursday.
Acting on a special tip-off, a police team under sub inspector Buddhiram Tharu from Province Police Office, with the assistance from Dhading police, arrested Sanjit Waiba, 27, of Uttargaya Rural Municipality-2 in Rasuwa district, Surendra Tamang, 22, and Bikas Tamang, 22, of Nuwakot-5 for allegedly trying to smuggle the precious yellow metal to India from Rasuwa.
The police arrested the trio from near the Siddheshwor Mahadev Temple in Gajuri-1 bazar at around 10pm yesterday night as they were heading towards their destination on two motorcycles. Another member of the alleged smuggler group was able to flee the scene.
The police also have impounded the motorcycles with registration numbers Ba 87 Pa 7731 and Province 3-02-003 Pa 2540, said District Police Chief Dambar Bahadur BK.
The arrestees have been sent to Department of Revenue Investigation in Kathmandu for further investigation into the matter.
