A local court in the United Kingdom has handed 13 years prison term to Nepali man on charge of raping and sexually assaulting a man with learning disabilities.

The Reading Crown Court in Berkshire, England issued the jail sentence to 43-year-old Deu Kumar Limbu of Salisbury Road in Reading town, England, on charge of raping a 22-year-old man.

According to media reports from Reading, Limbu was arrested at his place of work, at the Sam’s Wraps van on Broad Street after the incident took place on June 6, 2018, in Queen's Walk, Reading.

The 43-year-old took advantage and dragged the victim into the nearby Beresford Road Playground before performing a series sex acts without consent, local media reported. In a prepared statement to the police, Limbu insisted that the victim had consented to the activity and remained remorseless throughout the trial.

Thames Valley Police officers were called to Footasylum in Broad Street, where they found a distressed man, who claimed he had been raped, stated readingchronicle.co.uk, a local online news portal. The victim has suffered from flashbacks and nightmares following the ordeal, which featured unprotected sex after he had asked Limbu to stop.

During the case hearing, a jury of seven men and five women were shown CCTV footage which showed two figures, identified as Limbu and the alleged victim, walking along the side entrance to John Lewis and into the graveyard of Reading Minster Church, where it is alleged the teenager was then sexually assaulted.

When questioned by police, Limbu suggested the boy had invited sex in return for money.

Limbu has a 17-year-old son and a wife who are currently residing in Hong Kong.

In recent years, there has been a rise in crime being committed by people of Nepali origin in the UK. As per the data at the Nepali Embassy in the UK, there are around a dozen Nepalis serving time in British jails.
