Tribhuvan University is gearing up to conduct the Free Student Union elections in all its affiliated colleges across the country in coming February-March.
Student Welfare and Sports Directorate of TU issued a circular to all the affiliated campuses across the country on Monday asking them to make necessary preparations for the FSU elections. However, the date and details of the elections have not been announced yet.
The Executive Director of Department of Student Welfare and Sports Ganga Bahadur Magar issued the circular urging the campus chiefs inside and outside Kathmandu Valley to gear up for the elections as the two-year tenure of the FSU office bearers and members elected in March 2017 is going to end.
In 2017, the university had capped the age limit of student candidates at 28 years, a move which was welcomed by many but contested by few student leaders saying that the provision restricts genuine candidates from contesting the election.
