Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota inspected Nepal Telecommunications Authority office Kamaladai, Kathmandu on Thursday. Minister Banskota, who reached the office of Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) at 10:15 am, demanded progress report of different departments.
Minister Banskota said he inspected the office of Nepal Telecommunications Authority as the Departmental Minister.
Minister Banksota enquired about the progress of various projects being operated under the Nepal Telecommunications Authority and directed the concerned officials to come up with the progress report within 24 hours.
The Authority had given responsibility to UTL and Smart Telecom Pvt. Ltd to complete the works of optical fiber expansion within two years.
Enquiring about the issue of not starting the project yet, he also directed the Authority to table progress report of the project.
Similarly, Minister Banskota also directed NTA to present the progress report of the project of the Authority operated under the Rural Telecommunications Development Fund within 24 hours.
Nepal Telecommunications Authority spokesperson Min Prasad Aryal said that Minister Banskota inspected to inquire about the current situation of the Authority and attendance of the staffers.
“Minister Banskota inquired about the Rural Telecommunications Development Fund, frequency and license among other issues and directed to provide the progress report,” he said.
