Government to reform judiciary: Law minister

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal has said the government is planning to reform the country’s judicial system to reinforce people’s trust on judiciary.
To this end, the government has formulated 339 laws as per the constitution to ensure various rights of the people, Dhakal said addressing an interaction on Civil and Criminal Code organised by the ministry in Biratnagar.
Province 1 Minister for Law and Internal Affairs Hikmat Kumar Karki stressed the need of launching a campaign on legal literacy to aware people about their legal rights.
He said that the Province 1 government had passed 24 laws and were in the process of formulating necessary directives and work procedures for their effective implementation.
Province 1 Attorney Chudamani Acharya and President of Biratnagar High Bar Ram Prasad Bhandari also emphasised the need of a public awareness campaign about the their rights enshrined by the constitution.
Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Phanindra Gautam said the interaction was organised with an objective of collecting suggestions for effective implementation of laws.
District Judge Raju Khatiwada, lawyer Naryan Basti and Gautam presented working papers on various issues related to Civil and Criminal Code.
