The ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has said that there should not be any external interference in the internal affairs of any country, expressing its concerns over the ongoing crisis in Venezuela.
A secretariat meeting of the party on Monday issued another statement after the previous one by co-chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal drew controversies.
Chairman Dahal had released a statement, criticising the United States and its allies’ stance on Venezuela. This time around, the party has not indicated US or any other country and said the sovereign rights of the people should be respected.
Party spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha, issuing the statement, said Nepal Communist Party (NCP) respects sovereignty, freedom and geographical integrity of every country. "No country should interfere in the internal matter of other country and, and in case such issues arise, it should be resolved through a peaceful means by the people of the country," read the statement.

It said the party was clear about its foreign policy and international relations and was committed to the UN Charter and Panchsheel.
The secretariat meeting also asked the taskforce formed to conclude the unification to provide its report by Tuesday. Spokesperson Shrestha said the standing committee would then conclude the unification process based on the progress on the report.
