One arrested in connection to rape, murder of 11-year-old girl

Police on Monday arrested a person for allegedly raping, murdering and burning the dead body of an 11-year-old girl in Dhanusa.
According to the police, Niraj Jarghamagar, 22, of Bateshwor-4, Dhanusa have been arrested in connection with the rape and murder of Dutiya Rasaili (Reshma) of Hariharpur in Mithila Muicipality-3 was found.
The incident had taken place on Friday when the arrestee lured the victim, who was at her maternal uncle’s home attending a marriage ceremony, saying that he would buy her a Frooti and noodles, and then took her to a nearby sugarcane field and raped her.
District Police Office, Dhanusa SP Shekhar Khanal said that as per preliminary investigation Jarghamagar murdered the victim after she became unconscious following the rape.
“Jarghamagar was intoxicated with drugs and alcohol when he committed the crime,” said SP Khanal adding, “Jarghamagar has a criminal background. He murdered the victim and burnt her along with her clothes and slipper to destroy the evidence of rape.”
Prior to the incident, the accused had been arrested on a Public Offence case in Kathmandu and had also spent time in custody for eve teasing in Dhalkebar, Dhanusa.
District police and province police had commenced investigations immediately following the incident. Jarghamagar was arrested from Duhabi while he was trying to flee to India, said police.
