Congress President Deuba demands government clarify on Raut’s remarks
Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has demanded a government clarification on CK Raut’s remarks that contradict the government’s claim of him joining mainstream politics.Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has demanded a government clarification on CK Raut’s remarks that contradict the government’s claim of him joining mainstream politics.
The NC chief asserted that PM Oli should clarify the government’s stand on Raut’s remarks of separating the Madhes through referendum, or detain him. “Raut’s
talks point towards disintegrating the country through referendum. How can he make such remarks if he has agreed to join mainstream politics? We have no objection to him joining mainstream politics, but I take his recent remarks as treason. We will stand against it,” Deuba told a press meet in Pokhara on Tuesday. He demanded that the government needs to clarify Raut’s remarks or arrest him since he is a signatory to the 11-point agreement.
Deuba also criticised the government, saying that it did not accomplish anything praiseworthy this past year. The government is hell-bent on seizing rights from the local units, he added.
Students take out protest rally
SARLAHI: Various student organisations took out a whistle rally along Hariaun section of the East-West Highway on Tuesday to protest the 11-point agreement reached between the government and CK Raut. The protest rally, which was initiated by the Free Students Union of Chaturbhujeshwor Multiple Campus, converged into a corner meeting. Aarati Lama, student leader of the then CPN-UML-affiliated All Nepal Free Student Union, among others, addressed the meet. They expressed their reservations about the contents in the second and sixth points of the agreement.
