Comedian couple Sitaram Kattel and Kunjana Ghimire — popularly known with their on-screen names Dhurmus and Suntali — had on January 31 announced that their foundation will construct an international-standard stadium at the Forestry University premises in Bharatpur, Chitwan.
Kattel and Bharatpur Metropolitan Mayor Renu Dahal had signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the proposed stadium which will cost around Rs 3 billion to get a complete shape. On the day the Foundation signed the MoU, it had raised Rs 40 million. A foundation stone has already been laid, while it will take another five months to prepare its Detailed Project Report (DPR).
“Its because of our cricketers we have stood up to take the responsibility of constructing the stadium. We have already moved ahead in this process,” said Kattel on Tuesday as he announced the Twenty20 competition and appealed people from the all the quarters of society to chip in for the great cause.
“We are trying to bring all the Nepalese together because the Stadium is a project of national pride. We want everyone to join us for this cause at the TU Stadium. People can entertain themselves during the match day and those who want to contribute can chip in for the construction of stadium,” said Kattel.
National team skipper Paras Khadka will lead the Nepal ‘A’ team that will include Sharad Vesawkar, Anil Kumar Sah, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, Sompal Kami, Abinash Bohora, Sundeep Jora, Rohit Kumar Paudel, Sunil Dhamala, Kamal Singh Airee, Aarif Sheikh and Bhuwan Karki.
Gyanendra Malla is the captain of Nepal ‘B’ team consisting of Binod Bhandari, Dipendra Singh Airee, Basanta Regmi, Karan KC, Lalit Singh Bhandari, Bhim Sharki, Pawan Sarraf, Bikram Sob, Sushan Bhari Shrestha, Dilip Nath and Pradeep Airee.
Prior to the Twenty20 match, a six-over game between the celebrities will also be played featuring veteran actors Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya. Both the actors along with Khadka were also present during the press conference on Tuesday.
