Health Assistant Santosh Pandey of the District Health Office said that three people were found to be infected with the disease. The disease has mostly affected people living in Sigas, Patan and Melauli areas.
As per the data from the health office, 32 malaria patients were recorded last fiscal year while 67 people were found to be infected with malaria in the fiscal year 2016-2017. Nisha Joshi, the health office chief, said they have been raising awareness programmes to control malaria in the district.
She said, “We have distributed mosquito nets in various places of Pancheshwar and Shivanath rural municipalities and Melauli Municipality.
Malaria is a life-threatening mosquito-borne infectious disease caused by Plasmodium parasite. Its symptoms include fever, fatigue, nausea and headache.
