Hospital staff found dead in Capital

Tension ran high at Samata Hospital in Bouddha, Kathmandu, on Tuesday following the death of a cleaning staff at the hospital.
The body of 27-year-old Bimala Tamang was found hanging from the hospital’s ceiling on Tuesday morning.
Her friends and relatives resorted to a protest and vandalism after learning about her death. They said that her death was suspicious and demanded a fair investigation.
Traffic along the Bouddha-Kumarigal road was also affected due to the protest. Police used teargas to disperse the enraged crowd.
Tamang, who hailed from Doramba in Ramechhap district, had been working at the hospital for the last several months.
“We have taken two hospital staff in custody for interrogation about Tamang’s death,” Hobindra Bogati, spokesperson at the Metropolitan Police Range, told the Post. Tamang’s body was taken to Central Police Forensic Science Laboratory for autopsy. The Post made several attempts to contact the hospital administration, but to no avial.
Meanwhile, Bogati said that the rumours about the arrest of Uttam Sanjel, the hospital operator, and his wife were false and that the police had dropped them off to Gaushala for the couple’s safety in the wake of the protest.
