The minimum wage of domestic labourers has been increased 38 percent to Rs13,450 per month. The raise will come into effect from the start of the new fiscal year. A meeting held between the umbrella organisations of various business sectors and labour unions on Monday agreed to hike the minimum wage. Previously, the minimum wage was Rs9,700 per month.

Police have arrested Hindu leader Acharya Shree Niwas from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu for trying to incite communal violence by staging an attack on himself to make it appear like an attempted religious assassination.Shree Niwas was detained from the airport on Monday while he was preparing to fly to New Delhi, India. He was then transported to Biratnagar, where he could be tried for conspiring to cause religious disorder.
