Forest patrol team clashes with timber smugglers

RAUTAHAT: A forest patrol team of the Ramlal community forest clashed with timber smugglers at Bishrampur in the district on Friday. Both sides exchanged fires during the clash that ensued after the smugglers attacked the patrol team. The team led by Forester Bimal Chaudhary had been to the area after they were informed of timber smuggling. However, no human causality was reported in the incident. The patrol team confiscated six pieces of logs but the smugglers fled the scene after the clash, Chaudhary said.

Banda hits life in Janakpur

JANAKPUR: Banda enforced by the Sanjay Sah-led Madhes Kranti Forum affected the normal life of Janakpur and its adjoining areas on Friday. The forum had called the banda to protest the decision of the Dhanusha District Development Committee to withdraw the suspension of nine government employees charged with corruption. Marketplace, factories and transport service were closed. The banda enforcers burned tyres on the streets to vent their ire. They also took out a torch rally demanding proper investigation into the corruption case. (PR)
