Pokhara Post scribe threatened
Nov 2, 2012-A night club owner of Lakeside in Pokhara has issued threats to Shiva Sharma, the Kaski district correspondent of The Kathmandu Post, for writing news about a scuffle that broke out at the club on Saturday.
According to Sharma, the owner of Ozone Club, Mahendra Gurung, called him on Friday morning and threatened him for writing the news that was published on the Kantipur daily, eKantipur online news portal and the Saptahik weekly.
The news story makes no mention of Gurung. Sharma said Gurung was angry at him for mentioning the club’s name. Yogesh Gurung, 20, of Dihikopatan was injured in the fight. Police had rounded up 40 people in connection with the incident.
Gurung had many run-ins with the law in the past. According to police records, he has served a jail term for opening fire at a police team at Ram Bazaar five years ago.
