- POST REPORT, Kathmandu
January at Sattya

Jan 6, 2013-

To kick off 2013, the Sattya Media Arts Collective will be holding a Stop Motion Animation Workshop on its premises between January 5-13, facilitated by two visiting artists from the US, who will teach participants single-frame animation techniques to create their own animated videos. This month will also see the premiere of the monthly Chintan Chautari programme on January 18, comprising of evenings of tea, discussion and critical thinking, held on Sattya’s rooftop.

The group will also be partnering with the Adventure Film Festival to present a series of documentaries, for screenings to be held every Wednesday at  6 pm. These features will be an eclectic mix of current events, true stories, adventure sports and social advocacy, all to be shown at the Moksh Bar, for Rs 100 per person, including a free drink. Another edition of the Rooftop Bazaar has also been planned for January 26, where second-hand goods will be sold for charity.

In good news for art enthusiasts, the first round of selections for Kolor Kathmandu, a mural project, was held in December last year, and the artists are currently developing their concepts under the guidance of artists Sujan Chitrakar and Sagar Manandhar. With the first mural by artist Priscila De Carvalho already unveiled in Jawalakhel Chowk to great response, the coming months will see more artworks popping up around the city.
