VDC secy found hiding cash
Jun 17, 2013-
The ‘looting’ of Rs 6.9 million from three VDC secretaries in the district took a dramatic turn as police on Monday rounded up one of the VDC secretaries on the charge of hiding the amount.
Police held Ram Prasad Joshi, VDC secretary of Jagannath and Bai, with Rs 6.4 million cash that he hid in a forest at Martadi-1.
Earlier, Joshi had claimed that some masked people looted the cash, which was allocated for social security allowances, from a hotel in Pandusain on Friday night.
Three VDC secretaries, including Joshi, were on their way to the respective VDCs carrying the amount from the district headquarters, Martadi.
Joshi was under police scrutiny as two other VDC secretaries staying at the same hotel room said they did not know how Joshi was robbed.
Police Inspector Pradip DC said they recovered the cash hidden in a pit in the forest as per the statement of the accused.
Joshi, however, told media persons that he was not involved in the incident.
