Chinese Army pledges Rs 500m aid to NA
Visiting Chinese Deputy Chief of General Staff of People's Liberation Army (PLA) Lt Gen Wang Guanzhong paid a courtesy call on Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) Gen Gaurav SJB Rana on Friday.During the meeting held at the Nepal Army (NA) headquarters, the two senior military officers discussed historic ties between the two armies, mutual cooperation and other prospect of bilateral relations, the statement issued by the NA said.
Lt Gen Wang assured more support and cooperation to the NA in the days to come. He also informed Gen Rana that, China plans to provide approximately 30 million RMB (around Rs 500 million) as aid to the Nepal Army next year.
The second in command of the PLA said that two mobile hospitals worth 50 million Yuan Renminbi, which China had pledged to the NA earlier, were due to arrive in Kathmandu soon.
CoAS Rana expressed his gratitude for the Chinese help to the NA in communication, engineering and health sectors, which has helped boost the professional capability of the Nepalese military. Recalling his recent China visit, Rana also sent congratulatory message to Vice Chairman General Xu Qiliang of Central Military Commission (CMC) and Chief of General Staff (CGS) General Fang Fenghui.
Lt Gen Wang and Gen Rana also reviewed the military exchanges between China and Nepal and discussed the areas of mutual interest and the ways to further military cooperation between the two countries in the future.
The NA statement said such a kind of high level meetings and contacts between the two armies will help the bilateral relations and add more synergy in bilateral relations.
Earlier in the day, Lt Gen Wang had laid a wreath at the war hero memorial. He had also called on NA Gen Pawan Bahadur Pandey.
