Bhattarai elected FNJ Kantipur president

The Kathmandu Post journalist Kamal Dev Bhattarai was elected president of the Kantipur Publications chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) in an election held on Monday.
Of the 132 votes cast, Bhattarai secured 96 while fellow Nepal magazine journalist Ram Bahadur Rawal got 35. Upendra Nath Pokhrel of the Kantipur daily was appointed the vice-president, Bidur Khatiwada of Saptahik weekly as secretary, Manish Gautam of the Post as joint-secretary, Krishna Sharan Poudel as treasurer and Dhanendra KC, Raju Chaudhari, Shreejana Dual Shrestha, Madhu Shahi and Pratima Makhim as members.
Election was held also for selecting 22 central representatives from the Publications. Mukul Humagain, Anil Giri, Bhadra Sharma and Sanjeev Giri from TKP were elected as central representatives. Also, Hari Bahadur Thapa, Balaram Baniya, Abdullah Miya, Atul Mishra, Ganga BC, Pratima Baskota, Makar Shrestha, Sujit Mahat, Sarojraj Adhikari, Suresh Raj Neupane, Gopal Khanal, Sanjeevan Maharjan, Shekhar Adhikari, Rajendra Basnet, Ghanashyam Khadka, Jharna Naharki, Sushil Poudel and Lokmani Rai were elected. Newly elected President Bhattarai said he will work for the welfare of journalists in consultation with all the stakeholders.
