Street vendors call off banda
KATHMANDU: The agitating street vendors have called off a banda scheduled for Tuesday after the government formed a committee to address their concerns. Maya Gurung, secretary of the Nepal Street Vendors’ Association, said they decided to back off as the government committed to resolve their issues within three days. They have been seeking alternative venues after the Home Ministry evicted them from streets. The vendors have rejected 10 vending zones offered around Kathmandu, saying they are not suitable for business. (PR)
