Chinese government has expressed willingness to support Nepal to hold the 18th Saarc Summit in November in Kathmandu.

In a meeting with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, who is in Kunming on a two-day visit, Chinese officials said they expect concrete checklist of assistance that Nepal needs for the regional meet, said a Nepali official. China is an observer in the regional organisation, but it is seeking a special role such as Saarc plus China that the country has been enjoying in other regional organisations like Asean.

PM Koirala is scheduled to meet Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang on Friday on the sidelines of the second China-South Asia Exposition.  Nepal has been chosen as “Country of Honour” for the expo.
