‘Leaked document’ throws UCPN (M) off-balance
Jun 5, 2014-
A leaked document allegedly prepared by the UCPN (Maoist) senior leader Baburam Bhattarai faction, proposing parallel party committees, has send shock waves within the party.
Maoist leader Haribol Gajurel on Thursday confirmed having found the document but said they were yet to ascertain its authenticity. “We will investigate the document to find out the truth behind it,” Gajurel said.
The document has come to hand just days after the party announced that the rift between Bhattarai and the Maoist party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been temporarily patched up.
In the document has called for formation of parallel party committees from centre to state committee levels, challenging the party’s official organisational structures. It has proposed Bhattarai as the party chairman, chief of the Constituent Assembly (CA) and economic department. Top Bahadur Rayamajhi has been given the responsibility of the mobilisation of the overall politics, while Devendra Poudel has been recommended the head of the organisational department. The document has also proposed heads of the party’s 14 state committees.
A close confidant of Bhattarai said the leaked document was indeed prepared by a senior leader. Other leaders close to Bhattarai, however, said the document may have been prepared by the leaders who are not satisfied with the party’s decision about the allocation of responsibilities. “We have not formed any parallel committees, we are working to implement the official decision of the party,” said Kumar Poudel, a leader close to Bhattarai.
The Mohan Baidya-led faction had formed parallel party organisations before splitting from the UCPN (Maoist).
