Ex-NRNA prez bereaved

BHARATPUR: Jiva Lamichhane, former chairman of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), was bereaved of his father Khem Lal Lamichanne on Friday morning. Khem Lal died aged 85 breathed while undergoing treatment for brain ailment at the Annapurna Neuro Hospital in the Capital. His last rites were were performed in Devghat, Chitwan, on Friday afternoon. The deceased is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. (PR)

Lightening kills three

BARA: Three persons, including two young boys, were killed after being struck by lightening in Bara district on Friday. Police said 12-year-old son Ramji Sah and 15-year-old Dipendra Sah of Maheshpur, and 45-year-old Chhathiya Devi Sah of Kachorwa VDC-9 were killed by lightening. (PR)

26 injured in cop, student clash

MAHOTTARI: At least 26 people were injured in a student-police clash at Paricauli in the district on Friday. The clash ensued when police tried to resume Jaleshwor-Janakpur road obstructed by the students over an appointment of an assistant accountant of local Janaki Parikshan Secondary School. Police fired 11 rounds of tear gas shells and shot two rounds of rubber bullets to disperse

the students. Students have been protesting the appointment of Binaya Kumar Mishra as an assistant accountant of the school.  (PR)

 

Two held on rape charge

KATHMANDU: Two suspects have been arrested behind alleged rape of three young girls living in a public orphanage, Nepal Children’s Organisation, popularly known as Balmandir. Police arrested Rabin Shrestha, a former employee of Balmandir, and Rabin Chalise, the current president of Balmandir Club, following the complaints of rape and sexual abuse at the orphanage lodged by Action for Child Rights International-Nepal.
