Jul 15, 2014-

Former crown prince Paras Shah, who was arrested with 12.6 gram marijuana in Thailand, has been tried at a local criminal court in Bangkok, the Nepali Embassy said on Tuesday.

Shah was held with the narcotic from Davis Hotel, Sukmvit, around 3:15pm on July 10, according to Thai police. Nepali Embassy in Thailand confirmed his arrest but refused to share the details.

On Tuesday, Thai police informed the Nepali Embassy that Shah’s case was handled by a criminal court. Police did not share with the embassy whether the confiscated drug was used for consumption or for business purpose.

The Nepali Embassy has communicated his arrest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. No family member or relative of Shah has approached the embassy to enquire about him, said sources. Thai police also informed the embassy that Shah was produced before the criminal court after being charged. Where he has been kept remains unknown.

After a heart attack last year, Paras left Bangkok and has been staying in its outskirts. Earlier, in the last week of November 2012, he was held with 2.4 gram marijuana in Phuket, Thailand. He was released on bail but was caught again for smashing property at a luxury apartment in Bangkok.
